"Der Prinzentanz" - for Concert Band

“The Prince Dance” is a light dance for beginning concert bands. Imagine a young prince in his noble attire learning and mastering the courtly steps of a royal dance; this piece is light hearted and charming, utilizing a very comfortable range while still provide deep harmonic interest.

The opening A melody is in the middle voices and is light and playful. A modal version of this melody plays at the B section in the upper voices. The C section is noble and strong with the melody in the lowest voices. A brief percussion interlude returns us to the first melody with a comedic misstep in the lowest voices before ending in reverence.
